The Calgary Dance Stampede is Canada's largest and longest running Country, West Coast Swing and Line Dance event as well is the only fully sanctioned event by the UCWDC (United Country Western Dance Council) in Canada. The UCWDC governs all competitive country dancing in the world and allows competitors that attend the Calgary Dance Stampede the opportunity to go to the World Championships each year. As well the Calgary Dance Stampede is associated with the WCLDSF (World Country and Line DanceSport Federation) which is the governing body that is currently working with the WDSF (World DanceSport Federation) and the Olympic Organizing Committee to bring Country Dance to the Olympics!

The Calgary Dance Stampede is proud to announce the creation of the Calgary Dance Stampede Foundation which is a separate non-profit company dedicated to the development and growth of recreational and competitive Country and Line DanceSport in Western Canada and works directly with the Calgary dance Stampede through youth and adult outreach and public dance education programs. money raised through the foundation go directly to help benefit local youth in the Boys & Girls Youth Clubs of Calgary as well as amateur competitive dancers. 

The Calgary Dance Stampede has it all;

  • Over 17, 500 sq.ft. of dance floor spanning 6 rooms so there is always room to dance
  • Social dance the night away with our 3 incredible DJ’s in 3 separate Dance Halls (Country, West Coast Swing and Line Dance) creating the perfect night life so you can stay and play
  • The now famous Campfire Ball featuring an exquisite dinner menu prepared by some of Calgary's top chefs followed by a one-of-a-kind Dance Showcase featuring top professionals from Calgary and around the world
  • Local Calgary and Alberta dance apparel suppliers, artists and vendors fill our Vendor Corral that is open to the public, so come and shop the day away
  • Start your weekend off right with our Thursday night Kick-Off Event featuring one of our international couples teaching a workshop at our feature sponsor venue, The Ranchman's Cookhouse and DanceHall
  • Kick back and kick off your shoes or trade them in for a slider and broom at our Curling After Party. If you attended the event, then come and join us on Sunday night for free and your chance to draw closest to the button and win over $2,000

Keith Chrissi 1

 

Keith & Chrissi Armbruster 

Keith & Chrissi live just north of Calgary in Airdrie, Alberta. They share a passion of dance and recently were married in the beautiful Rocky Mountains.

Keith has been active in the UCWDC for over 18 years and holds 10 UCWDC Country Dance World Championship titles; he is the current President of the United Country Western Dance Council (UCWDC) as well as a Master Certified Judge and Educator. Keith continues to compete at the pinnacle of Country Dance, the Masters' Division.

Christin (Chrissi) moved to Canada in 2011 from Berlin, Germany where she held many solo, couples and trio national Acrobatic Championship titles as well as group titles with her school Turngemeinde In Berlin. After moving to Canada she began her UCWDC competition journey and currently holds 2 UCWDC World Championship titles and still competes with Keith in the ProAm Intermediate division as well in Line Dance.

Keith works for an Architect as a Senior Project Manager and Chrissi takes care of kids as a Child Care Supervisor in their daily lives. Together they teach weekly group lessons in Calgary (Keith also teaches his private students) and work and train with their High Performance Acrobatic dance team "Country Kaos Dance". They also own a West Coast Swing event "The Extreme Swing Weekend" which happens every June.

They feel truly blessed to be a part of such a wonderful and supportive dance community allowing them to share their love of dance as they travel across North America to teach workshops, judge and compete.
