Calgary International Airport (YYC)

 
Calgary International Airport surpassed previous record-breaking years with over 9.1 million passengers in 2004. Travel between the U.S. and Canada (Transborder) and Domestic destinations reached new heights with more than a six percent increase in passenger traffic. International growth was fueled by a 13 percent increase in traffic, including an increase in the number of passengers flying to sun destinations such as Cuba, Mexico and Jamaica.
New or announced transborder and domestic destinations include:

• Las Vegas

• Orlando

• Fort Lauderdale

• Peace River

• Red Deer

• Fort St. John

• San Diego

• New York (Newark)

Increased scheduled service to sun destinations include:

• Cancun

• Cuba

• Hawaii

• Jamaica

• and charter services to Liberia (Costa Rica), Manzanillo (Mexico) and the Dominican Republic.

2005 is off to a buoyant start with passenger volumes in all sectors exceeding 2004 numbers for the same period. Based on estimated numbers, passenger arriving and departing Calgary International Airport for January 2005 totaled 760,860, 12.53 percent higher than January 2004.
